A comprehensive report by the ISR Employee Engagement Report in 2006 clearly shows that organizations with highly engaged workforces performed up to 50 percent better than those with low engagement. Based on surveys of over 664,000 employees worldwide, the study analyzed companies’ operating income, net income and earnings-per-share (EPS) over a 12-month period:

  • In terms of operating income, the high-engagement companies improved by 19 percent whereas the low-engagement companies declined by 33 percent.
  • Net income for high-engagement companies rose by 13 percent; for low-engagement companies it fell by 4 percent.
  • In the high-engagement companies EPS grew by 28 percent; in the low-engagement companies it fell by 11 percent.
